Rest

You may have noticed a long and uncreative silence. My life has been, in a nutshell, in complete turmoil for months. Without getting into too much detail, there's been little impetus for joy, creation, inspiration, or art. I have missed Etsy, my blog, all of my favorite blogs and artists, and it feels as if I've pulled away from a world that is as much my home as any place. It's really sad to go into my art room and see projects half-finished that I haven't touched for nearly six months. It's painful to pick them up when my heart's not in it and move forward with them. Art is an expression of soul, so what do I do when my soul is sad and confused? It seems that pigs and bunnies don't quite spring from my fingertips with the ease they once used to. I miss them, too.

My goal at this point is to just try to create something. Not for sale. Not for Etsy. But for the act of generating something of beauty from within my personal choas. My hope is to bring levity and understanding and peace to some of the more difficult moments lately. Perhaps art is a vehicle for that? I'm turning 32 on Sunday. I think giving myself the gift of creation is a great beginning to this next year of my life.

For now, I've included a list of items available on Etsy that speak to me in the place I'm in right now. I hope you find beauty in this collection as well...

Here's to a restful autumn and the great possibility of art and a renewal of life.

  1. Abigail, I hope you find some solace today among your art supplies. Making something beautiful for yourself sounds like a perfect way to spend the day. I often try to look at time spent with art supplies as a time to play..I'm not very good at it, I usually take too much of a grown up approach. If you can ... try to play, your inner child needs it.

  2. Hi Abby

Dont sweat it Lovely, all us creative types feel like this, I some times have months where nothing gets made. Creativity is not a light switch, we cant just turn it on when you feel like it, it is so linked to us, everything we make with out own hands carries a little piece of your soul in it. Don't worry, it will come back when your soul feels light again.

Just remember your are very talented and every one of your little creatures is treasured wherever it is, my little owl still watches over me as I struggle with my own creations!!

Chin up as we say over here, you'll get there!

    Kat xx

100 Sales & Giveaway

I am so grateful to announce that my little Etsy shop has reached 100 sales!!! I originally opened my shop in 2006 to sell paintings of birds on wires, but reinvented myself this past year. I listed the first 20 needle felted items on March 2nd. Since then, I've received so much positive feedback, made so many friends, and have grown my art immensely (go take a look at the first few listings!) In celebration of the first 100 sales, I'm offering a giveaway! The giveaway prize is the Plumpie that started it all - featured on the Etsy Finds blog and the item that generated the first wave of real interest in my shop - the sitting fox . I will make you one of your own, but you can see an example below: To enter the giveaway, simply leave a comment with your contact information. One entry per person. The giveaway ends November 26th at 8:00 pm EST , with the drawing on November 27th. I'll announce the winner on Saturday, November 27th.

Shop Update!
