My How You've Grown! (A Retrospective)

On March 1, 2010 I revisited my dusty Etsy shop. Back in 2006 I opened it to sell Bird on Wire paintings (hence the name) and after two sales, didn't really think about Etsy or pursue my art with any real intent.

Then, in January of 2010, I began needle felting in earnest. I'd dabbled in it, but realized that I could make cute creatures that made ME smile. I had always done art for the sake of beauty and capturing a moment, but I had never made anything that I really had my heart set on keeping. Until I made my first Plumpie. He's sitting on my desk still and smiles up at me. I will take a picture of him someday. He makes me smile every time I see him.

After I'd gathered a bunch of creatures, I listed them all on March 1st. My mom was my first sale (thanks Mom!) In a magical turn of events, Etsy featured my sitting fox in their Cute and Cuddly Etsy Finds blog, and since then I've had a fairly steady stream of interest and sales. I am so, so grateful for Etsy and my customers and fans. They keep me going when the rest of life is BLAHZOOZA!

Onward.

I'm most impressed and awed by how much my art has grown in less than a year. I thought I'd share a little NOW and THEN pictorial of the progression of my work:

Along the way there were also some of my favorite(est) creations ever. Below are the highlights:

I'm so excited to see what the next year brings for me and my art. I'm reaching out in new directions and stretching my imagination. I will be having a 1 Year Anniversary Celebration on Etsy with some special creatures....and who knows after that!!!???
Thank you to all of my friends who follow along as I find joy in my life and art.

100 Sales & Giveaway

I am so grateful to announce that my little Etsy shop has reached 100 sales!!! I originally opened my shop in 2006 to sell paintings of birds on wires, but reinvented myself this past year. I listed the first 20 needle felted items on March 2nd. Since then, I've received so much positive feedback, made so many friends, and have grown my art immensely (go take a look at the first few listings!) In celebration of the first 100 sales, I'm offering a giveaway! The giveaway prize is the Plumpie that started it all - featured on the Etsy Finds blog and the item that generated the first wave of real interest in my shop - the sitting fox . I will make you one of your own, but you can see an example below: To enter the giveaway, simply leave a comment with your contact information. One entry per person. The giveaway ends November 26th at 8:00 pm EST , with the drawing on November 27th. I'll announce the winner on Saturday, November 27th.
