Woolnimals

I've been trying to squeeze in some painting time here and there. My husband did an overnight with a client last week, so I had a lot of quiet time. I spent it painting - which was delightful. I realized that until I buy a proper scanner, I can't in good conscience offer my watercolors in my Tickle Me Pig Shop. I can't quite photograph them to show all of the depth of color, and it's really important to me to accurately represent my work. Here are three I finished last week. They are ACEO-sized (2.5 x 3.5): These are still like "sketches" to me. I'm not used to painting single subjects and knowing what to do with them...so it's a learning process. In addition, I have a Panda Bear and a Bunny for sale in my shop! They're pretty cute!

One last post to share a tiny pig painting I did this past weekend....This little cutie is being mailed to a very special young person.

I'm overwhelmed by the amount of comments on my Owl Giveaway! Thank you for all of your lovely feedback - it makes me smile every day. I have been moving really, really slowly lately. My husband is having some stomach issues and we've been managing that as well as house sitting for a friend. I didn't realize how tired I was until I stopped going, and then I just slept and slept. I'm hoping to re-energize at some point and get going with needle felting again (I'm in the middle of a lovely Possum!) but I'm giving myself this little break and trying not to feel bad about it I have been painting a bit. I'm still gearing up to open my new sister shop Tickle Me Pig - and hope to have that up and running by September at the latest. I'm having a blast painting pigs and lions and polar bears and realizing that Hey, maybe I AM good at illustration! Who knew? I hope all of you dears are having wonderful summers! I've been trolling around Etsy and finding some amazing little watercolors done by talented artists. I really love illustrations of animals or children with animals - and I thought that perhaps it was time to make my way back to watercolors. I've spent a lot of time understanding how animals work in the 3-D sculptural world - which I think has aided my drawing skills. Usually it's the other way around, right? Last night I tried to paint a lion at about midnight (I was wired and couldn't sleep), and I messed his face up pretty badly - despite the fact that he looked lovely otherwise. I thought to myself: "Self, you can do this!" So I painted a polar bear. And a bee. And a pig, Canada goose, and mouse. I love them! I realize that practice makes perfect - and I will begin offering original ACEO-sized watercolor paintings in my shop soon. I will continue needle felting - but it's time to stop being afraid of watercolors. It's quite hard to photograph and...
